Jorge Rivera has worked within the Hispanic/Latino community in the Archdiocese of Chicago for many years. Presently he is Coordinator for Hispanic Young Adult Ministry in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Some of Jorge's accomplishments include the organization of three archdiocesan Encuentros (gatherings) that have drawn hundreds, if not thousands, of Latino young people. Other events include the Pascua Juvenil, leadership formation retreats, music workshops and missions for parishes that are in need of beginning pastoral ministry formation with Hispanic young people.
Jorge's passion for music and ministry has allowed him to travel to Latin America and many dioceses within the United States. This passion has led him to bring God's message of hope to Mexico, Colombia, Puerto Rico, and Ecuador as a speaker and performer. His most recent concert in Cali, Colombia helped raise funds to build homes for homeless families living in the streets of Cali.
Jorge's recording entitled ENTRA is a contemporary Latin/pop-styled CD that features great anthems of discipleship, testimony, and witness. This collection is perfect for retreats, youth, and young adult gatherings or for listening inspiration.
Jorge's recent recording, published by World Library Publications (WLP), was released in June, 2006. It includes riveting Latin rhythms with profound messages of the experience of a migrant Latino community. This new collection is entitled REINVENTANDO EL AMOR or Reinventing Love derived from the words of St. Vincent DePaul "love is infinitely inventive."
Jorge was honored in October, 2006 by receiving a Unity Award from the United Catholic Music and Video Association (UCMVA) for Spanish Album of the Year - his REINVENTANDO EL AMOR!
